Editoria e Giardini, built around the combined concepts of the book and the garden, traces its beginnings back to 2001 on Lake Maggiore, thanks to the impulse of Verbania Town Council.
The key feature of the event is the Garden Book Fair, “Salone del libro sul giardino”, which takes place in the 19th century Villa Giulia and each year presents a selection of over 3,000 titles on the subject of gardens and plants both in Italian and in foreign languages: but it is much more than just books.
In fact, the fair offers a rich programme that includes opportunities for in-depth study, training or entertainment: meetings and conferences, book presentations, music and concerts, workshops, guided tours, art exhibitions and documentaries, readings and concerts in the park.
Every year, the event is built around a central theme which gives rise to a specific programme of exhibitions, meetings, book presentations and entertainment.
The event is produced in collaboration with local cultural Associations and public bodies like the Landscape Museum (Museo del Paesaggio) and the State Archives.
Over the years, the organisation has benefited from the prestigious collaboration of experts, enterprises, foundations, institutes and nation-wide cultural associations. The Region of Piedmont has actively participated in the organisation of Editoria e Gardini through the Regional Museum of Natural History in Turin.
In Verbania, Editoria e Giardini brings together garden enthusiasts, experts and sector professionals, offering them the best in specialized publishing and major appointments held in the most impressive villas and gardens of the town where the visitor is immersed in the garden which is actually being discussed or mentioned in the reading.
