Isola Bella Gardens

Isola Bella, the pearl of the Borromeo possessions on Lake Maggiore, is dominated by the family’s Baroque palace and by a luxuriant Italian garden up to a height of 37 metres and arranged on 10 descending terraces.

The garden of the island is home to many rare exotic plants and flowers, arranged in a marvellous backdrop that culminates in the “Theatre” overlooking the terraces.
Ponds, fountains, white peacocks and a multitude of statues dating back to the second half of the 19th century further enrich the gardens and contribute to making them a place of exquisite fascination.
