This remake of Hitchcock’s silent film (Easy virtue), which was an adaptation of Noël Coward’s play, sees English gardens as the ideal background to the aristocratic English society that was, at that time, decidedly anti-American. The date is 1930 and the emancipated Larita and the aristocratic John will face many extraordinary situations before the film’s surprising conclusion.
